Here’s a simple recipe for small sesame cakes, a delicious and slightly sweet treat:

Small Sesame Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the dough:
    • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 cup (50g) sugar
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup (120ml) warm water
    • 2 tbsp (30ml) vegetable oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)
    • 1 tsp baking powder
  • For the filling (optional):
    • 2 tbsp sesame seeds (toasted)
    • 2 tbsp sugar (or brown sugar)
    • 1 tbsp flour (to thicken)
  • For coating:
    • 1/4 cup sesame seeds (for rolling)
  • For frying:
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for pan-frying)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
    • Add warm water and vegetable oil, then mix until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling (optional):
    • Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan until golden and fragrant.
    • Grind the toasted sesame seeds with sugar and flour until coarse (optional: leave some seeds whole for texture).
  3. Shape the cakes:
    • Divide the dough into small portions (about 12-15 pieces).
    • Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into a small disc.
    • If using filling, place a small amount in the center of each disc, then fold and seal the edges. Flatten gently.
  4. Coat with sesame seeds:
    • Lightly brush each cake with water or egg wash, then roll in sesame seeds to coat evenly.
  5. Cook the cakes:
    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Pan-fry the cakes until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
    • Alternatively, you can bake them at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the cakes cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

These small sesame cakes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect as a snack or dessert!
