This Ancient Cake is a world famous Japanese dessert. The cake is especially popular in Taiwan. It was there that they began to make it in their own way.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour – ¾ cup (100 g)
- Milk – ½ cup (100 ml)
- Eggs – 6
- Butter – ½ cup (100 g)
- Sugar – ½ cup (100 g)
- Vanilla Extract – to taste
Instructions
- Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Sift the flour. Then combine the milk and butter in a saucepan.
- Melt the ingredients over low heat. Next, pour the hot mixture into the flour and thoroughly mix. Add the egg yolks one at a time.
- Then add vanilla extract to the batter. Beat the egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks. Next, pour the rest of the batter to the egg whites.
- Mix the mixture carefully. At the same time, stir the batter clockwise, and move the bowl counterclockwise.
- Wrap the cake pan outside with tin foil. Line the inside with parchment paper.
- Pour the batter into the pan and smooth out the surface. Place the pan into a larger pan. Fill it with hot water at least 180 °F (80 °C).
- Put the cake in the oven for 70 minutes at 300 °F (150 °C).
