Batterway White Bread

A quick and easy white bread with no kneading required. Perfect for sandwiches!.You can substitute Instant (fast-rising) Yeast in place of Active Dry Yeast in batter/no knead recipes. When using Instant Yeast, expect your batter/dough to rise about 50% faster. Adjust your rise times accordingly. Traditional methods: use equal amounts; Bread Machine: use ½ tsp Instant Yeast OR ¾ tsp Active Dry Yeast per cup of flour in your recipe.

Ingredients

  • 6½ cups bread flour
  • 2 packages (4½ tsp, ½oz, 14g) RED STAR Active Dry Yeast
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 3 cups warm tap water
  • 2 Tbsp shortening or butter, soft

Instructions

  1. In large mixer bowl, combine 3½ cups flour, yeast, sugar and salt; mix well. Add warm water (120-130°F) and shortening to flour mixture. Blend at low speed until moistened, beat 3 minutes at medium speed. By hand, gradually stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter. Cover; let rise in warm place until double, about 30 minutes.
  2. Stir down batter. Spread in greased 9×5 or 8×4-inch bread pans. Cover; let rise in warm place until batter reaches top of pans, 20 to 30 minutes. Bake at 375°F for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown. Remove from pans; brush with butter. Cool on wire rack.
