Two-Tone Donut Cake Recipe

(Soft, fluffy, and visually stunning!)

Ingredients:

For the Vanilla Batter:

  • 1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Batter:

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

For the Glaze (Optional):

  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions:

1. Preheat & Prep:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a donut-shaped cake pan (or a bundt pan) well with butter or non-stick spray.

2. Make the Vanilla Batter:

  1. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth.

3. Make the Chocolate Batter:

  1. Repeat the same steps as the vanilla batter, but add cocoa powder to the dry ingredients.

4. Create the Two-Tone Effect:

  1. Spoon or pipe the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the pan (e.g., one spoon of vanilla, one of chocolate).
  2. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl for a marbled effect (if desired, but don’t overmix).

5. Bake:

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

6. Glaze & Decorate (Optional):

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for a simple glaze.
  • Drizzle over the cooled cake and add sprinkles for fun!

Tips for Success:

✔ Room-temperature ingredients ensure even mixing.
✔ Don’t overmix the batters to keep the cake tender.
✔ For clean layers, pipe the batters side by side instead of swirling.

This cake is soft, moist, and eye-catching—perfect for impressing guests! Pair it with coffee or milk for a delightful treat.
