This Frozen Hot Chocolate is an easy chocolate lovers drink. It may sound weird saying Frozen and Hot at the same title but that is literally what it is. When we hear Hot Chocolate we always relate it to a Hot drink, which makes sense. For me hot chocolate makes me think of Fall and Winter season. A hot decadent drink that keeps me warm and cozy on cold rainy or snowy day.

We can make an exception for this one, because this Hot Chocolate is served not hot but frozen cold. Think of it a slushie or smoothie of some sort. This is a hot chocolate drink that was frozen and blended until smooth, creamy and oh so delicious. What’s not to like? I haven’t even mention the whipped cream and shaved chocolate on top .. Now that is a definite yes for me

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Milk(Divided: 1 12/ cups for chocolate mix, 1/2 cup when blending)
  • 1 ounce chopped Dark or Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • 2 tablespoon unsweetened Cocoa Powder (If not freezing and using ice, make it 3 tablespoon)
  • 1/4 cup Light Brown Sugar or granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder or Coffee Powder– optional flavoring
  • Whipping Cream – highly recommended

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 1/2 cup of milk in a pan. In low heat, bring the milk to a simmer. Scoop 1/4 cup and mix with the cocoa powder. Stir until the cocoa powder is fully dissolved. Pour back into the pan. Add chopped chocolate and sugar (or any preferred sweetener). Continue to simmer in low heat while stirring. Stop as soon as the chocolate has melted. Add cinnamon powder (optional) and stir.
  2. Pour in an ice cube tray and freeze overnight or until completely solid.
  3. Pour 1/2 cup of milk in a blender. Add the frozen hot chocolate and blend until smooth.
  4. Pour in a glass.
  5. Make the Whipped Cream or you can use store-bought whipped cream.
  6. Top the frozen hot chocolate with whipped cream, dash of cocoa powder or grated chocolate or both.
  7. Enjoy!
