Simple orange cake, a sweet moist inside but soft, a typical Sicilian recipe that is very easy to make because you have to blend all the ingredients together , including the whole oranges and in my recipe you will find a little trick to prevent it from taking on a bitter taste. It is perfect for breakfast and snacks, it is butter-free , light and can be enjoyed whenever you prefer. Its flavor is intense and fruity like Lemon Cake or Apple Cake and it is so good with its candied fruit syrup on top that it can be served as a dessert at the end of a meal in holiday menus .
Ingredients
- 350 g oranges ( organic )
- 200 g flour
- 50 g potato starch
- 3 eggs
- 1 sachet baking powder for desserts
- 180 g sugar
- 140 ml milk
- 100 ml seed oil
For coverage
- 50 g granulated sugar
- 15 g candied orange
- 100 ml orange juice
Instructions
- Take the organic oranges and wash them, dry them and remove the peel with a potato peeler, cut them in two and remove the white part with a knife. Then put them in a mixer or in the Thermomix together with the milk, oil and sugar
- Combine the flour, starch and yeast and blend in the mixer or in the Bimby. Pour into a 24 or 26 cm mold lined with baking paper depending on the height you want to obtain. Bake the orange cake for 45 minutes at 180° static and then for 10 minutes in ventilated mode.
- Once the dessert is ready, take it out of the oven and let it cool. Blend the sugar, candied fruit and juice together, prick it with a toothpick along the surface of the cake and while it is still warm and pour it into the ring mold so that it penetrates inside. Let it cool completely and serve it.
